What the Magic is saying about Cavs

What the Magic is saying about Cavs
Forgive Magic coach Stan Van Gundy.

He has been too busy knocking off the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinals to pay much attention to the Cavaliers blasting through the playoffs to this point.

But, in the wake of Sunday's Game 7 victory at Boston, here's what Van Gundy and some of the Magic players were saying about the Cavaliers .

Van Gundy: "From what I've seen, Cleveland is playing at a much higher level than anyone in the playoffs. So, we're going to have to take it up another notch."

Dwight Howard: "Our defense has picked up, and I think the last two games we really made a great effort on defense to get stops when we need it. That's what it's going to take against a great team like Cleveland. They shoot the ball well, they have LeBron James and they are a tough team, but in order to beat those guys it has to start with defense."

Howard: "We have a great chance of winning, but it's going to take playing hard for 48 minutes if we want to win a championship. Cleveland is tough and we understand that they have been sitting at home waiting, they got a lot of rest, but we have to be mentally prepared and ready to go to battle with a team like Cleveland."

Howard: "I believe we can win the championship, and we aren't going to stop going after one until we get it. We have the right team. We have the talent. We have the right coaches, and it's on us to go out there every night and play hard. It starts with me on the defensive end and to get them motivated."

Anthony Johnson: "This year we're 2-1 against them. They beat us at their place and we beat them twice at our place. If you're trying to win a championship, you have to win on the road, and Quicken Loans Arena is a tough place to go in and win. So we're going to have our hands full. They've been playing excellent this postseason. We're going to have a challenge, but you know we can handle that."

Mickael Pietrus: "Everybody plays together. They're hungry, they've been there before, so I think that we're really going to try to stop King James. It's not going to be easy, but I believe and all my team believes and, hopefully, we're going to play well, and it's going to be a great series. It's not going to be easy, because it's Cleveland and they've been playing really well. But we're going to compete and really try to go to NBA Finals because you never know when you're going to get a chance to play the same season and hopefully we're going to win."

JJ Redick: "We're confident. We feel that we can play against anyone in the league, but they're playing great right now and you got to give them a lot of credit. They have the best record in the NBA for the whole season, but we feel like we can compete with them. They haven't lost yet, but we feel that we can compete with them."
