All of Brian's answers are archived online. Q: Hey, Brian: How much do you think John Kuester will be missed? Who will take over his offensive responsibilities? - Chris Bien, North Kingsville, Ohio.
A: Hey, Chris: Last season was the best offensive season in the James era, so losing Kuester, who was the offensive coordinator, might indeed have an impact. It appears coach Mike Brown will install Mike Malone, who is one of the best young assistant coaches in the NBA and likely a future head coaching candidate, as the offensive coordinator. Malone actually has had more responsibilities during the playoffs than Kuester over the past couple of years.
Also, Melvin Hunt, who is going into his fifth year on the staff, likely will be given more responsibilities with the defense. He has a lot of institutional knowledge, and the players are comfortable with him and trust him.
