Cleveland Cavaliers Roster Report 2008-04-30

Cleveland Cavaliers Roster Report 2008-04-30

ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Delonte West, Shooting guard Wally Szczerbiak, Small forward LeBron James, Power forward Ben Wallace, Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Bench -- Guard Daniel Gibson, Guard/Forward Devin Brown, Forward Joe Smith, Center Anderson Varejao.

PLAYER NOTES:

--F LeBron James topped the 1,000-point barrier in his postseason career on Sunday. James and Rockets G Tracy McGrady are the only two active players with at least 992 points in fewer than 40 playoff games. James now has 1,019 points in 38 career postseason games, while as of April 25, McGrady had 992 points in 35 games.

--F LeBron James said he expects to get to the free-throw line at least 10 times a game. He was just 2-of-4 from the line in the Game 3 loss. He made nine of 14 on Sunday. "I want at least 10-plus," he said. "For one, it gets us to the bonus. It gets us in a rhythm. Ten-plus is something I've been accustomed to." He's shooting just 59.2 percent from the foul line in this series (29-of-49). "I'm not happy at all," James said. "It's a work in progress."

--Many felt going into the first-round series, the Cavs had a huge edge at center. That hasn't exactly been the case. C Zydrunas Ilgauskas is averaging 14 points, 7.8 rebounds and 0.3 blocks in the series. He's shooting 47.8 percent from the field. Wizards C Brendan Haywood, originally drafted by the Cavs out of North Carolina, is averaging 13.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks. He's shooting 67.9 percent from the field. Of course, almost all of his points come on dunks. Even at the foul line, where Ilgauskas usually excels, Haywood has the edge (81 percent to 80 percent).

--It should come as no surprise the Cavs out-rebounded the Wizards on Sunday in Game 4. But what was shocking was their rebounding margin, 51-31. "They go small at times," coach Mike Brown said. "We try to stay big. We are a very good offensive rebounding team. Our aggressiveness to the basketball helped us win the game."

Wizards forward Antawn Jamison, who had a team-high 11 rebounds, said several factors led up to the dominance. He said the Wizards played "small" for long stretches of the game, they didn't box out very well and the ball bounced the Cavs' way. F LeBron James and F Ben Wallace each had 12 rebounds for the Cavs.
