Cleveland Cavaliers Roster Report 2008-12-12

Cleveland Cavaliers Roster Report 2008-12-12
ROTATION: Starters -- Point guard Mo Williams, Shooting guard Delonte West, Small forward LeBron James, Power forward Ben Wallace, Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas. Bench -- Guard Sasha Pavlovic, Forward Wally Szczerbiak, Center Anderson Varejao.

PLAYER NOTES:

--F LeBron James' free-throw shooting continues to push toward 80 percent. He's shooting 79.7 percent from the foul line (157-of-197). For his career, he's shooting 73.1 percent. James is fourth in the league in free-throw attempts per game at 9.1. He trails Orlando's Dwight Howard, New Jersey's Devin Harris and Miami's Dwyane Wade. James is fifth in the NBA in free-throw makes per game at 7.2. The only players ranked ahead of him are Toronto's Chris Bosh, Los Angeles Clippers' Corey Maggette, Harris and Wade.

--F LeBron James is seventh in the NBA in steals at 2.0 per game. That's the first time he's averaged more than two steals a game since the 2004-05 season.

"He has a nose for the basketball," coach Mike Brown said. "He's getting steals and not hanging his teammates out to dry." He has averaged 1.1 blocks per game.

--G Daniel Gibson was just starting to emerge from his shooting funk when he sprained his big toe in the Toronto game. He made two three-pointers before exiting the contest. In the previous three games, he had averaged 16.3 points.

--F Darnell Jackson might have displaced F J.J. Hickson in Coach Mike Brown's rotation.

"He has been playing well," coach Mike Brown said. "I wanted to see him with (the second team). It could last a month or I could change (tonight)."

Brown might be trying to send Hickson a message that he needs to play harder. However, neither player appeared in Wednesday's game.

MEDICAL WATCH:

--G Eric Snow (knee) will retire as soon as the Cavs receive a disability claim from the insurance company.
