Cleveland Cavaliers Notes, Quotes 2009-08-21
--F Leon Powe will join the Cavaliers after agreeing to a two-year deal with the team. Powe, who is recovering from a torn left ACL, is not expected to play before February. "Leon is a high-quality player and person. His tough, gritty play has already contributed in big playoff games during his young career," said Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry. "As he continues to work rehabilitating his injury, we would look to hopefully see him return toward the end of the season."

--Cavs assistant coach Melvin Hunt will take over as the team's unofficial "defensive coordinator." Mike Malone will replace departed John Kuester as the "offensive coordinator." Kuester is the Pistons' new head coach.

--The Cavs have 29 appearances on national television during the 2009-10 regular season. The season opener will be Oct. 27 against Boston at Quicken Loans Arena. That game will be on TNT. They will also face the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day on ABC. They will also have two West Coast trips in addition to 18 back-to-back sets.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "People ask if I ever wanted to give up and find a different profession. I tell them, 'It made me a better man to make all those different stops in all those different cities. I had all those different teammates. It made me a better person. It taught me how to deal with different people and personalities. Being in different places made me stronger and a better man.'" -- Cavs F Jamario Moon, on his travels in basketball's minor leagues before getting to the NBA.
