--Lakers coach Phil Jackson will coach the Western Conference All-Stars for the 2009 NBA All-Star Game. The East coach will either be the Cavs' Mike Brown or Orlando's Stan Van Gundy. It will be based on which team has the best winning percentage on Feb. 1. The Cavs are a half-game behind the Magic in the East.
--For the numbers freaks out there, NBA analyst Dr. Jack Ramsay said the Cavs have hit the trifecta of statistical categories. "They are leading the league in field-goal percentage allowed at .422, points allowed at 89.6 and point differential at 11.1," he said. "Those are incredible stats. You win with that." QUOTE TO NOTE: "I think this is LeBron's year for MVP. He's having such a great year, his team's doing well, great guy on and off the court, just great. LeBron is involved in every play down the floor -- the ball is in his hands at some point -- and doing incredible things. I'm not here to tell you Kobe (Bryant) couldn't do the same things if he had the ball all the time, but (LeBron) is playing in the triple post, he shares the ball, it's just a different offense. They both get incredible numbers, but LeBron is just having the year." -- Golden State coach Don Nelson on LeBron James
