--Cavs assistant coach Melvin Hunt feels like he's back in school. He feels like he's learning from the master -- Cavs coach Mike Brown. "It's like taking a class in college from the professor who wrote the book," Hunt said. "He wrote the book on our system. I'm very appreciative that he trusts me. He's known as a defensive guru. That's who he is. That means I have to be sharp. He knows his stuff. I have to make sure I know mine." Hunt said the Cavs' defensive system is best described as a "trust, help and communicate system."
--F Leon Powe realizes that there will be a lot of competition for minutes once he returns. He'll battle Anderson Varejao, J.J. Hickson and Darnell Jackson for minutes. But he's confident that he'll get plenty of playing time.
"You go anywhere, it's a battle," he said. "We have a lot of quality forwards. It's like me, 'Baby' (Glen Davis) and (Kevin) Garnett (in Boston). You have to do something to stand out. I always seem to do that."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "Defensively, we have to do a better job of at least giving a sustained effort for longer periods of time. We go through stretches right now where the effort is not there. Even if our coverage breaks down, the effort can still be there. That has to change." -- Cavs coach Mike Brown, on his team's poor defensive intensity.
