Cleveland Cavaliers Getting Inside 2009-10-30

Cleveland Cavaliers Getting Inside 2009-10-30Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry said there's "nothing imminent" regarding the possible signing of free agent point guard Antonio Daniels. Daniels, 34, cleared waivers on Tuesday and is free to sign with any team.

Sources say the Cavs have been in contact with Daniels, who was bought out of his $6.6 million contract in Minnesota last Friday.

"We're doing our due diligence with free agency and trades like we always do," Ferry said.

Cavs coach Mike Brown is not campaigning for help in the backcourt.

"I like our team the way it is," he said. "If someone comes along that would make our team better, it would be wrong not to at least explore it."

Brown coached the 6-foot-4, 210-pound Daniels in San Antonio.

"Danny has talked about that name," he said. "It's up to him and his staff. I coached Antonio in San Antonio. He's a veteran guard with some size that has won a championship. I'm sure time will tell after Danny does his homework whether he'll be a good fit."

RAPTORS 101, CAVS 91: It's painfully obvious that the Cavaliers have yet to arrive. After their humiliating loss to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday at Air Canada Centre, they dropped to 0-2 on the season.

Even though expectations are through the roof, the Cavs have gotten off to a disappointing start. LeBron James might be putting up big numbers, but there's little cohesion or chemistry on the court. He recorded his 25th triple-double of his career -- third against the Raptors -- with 23 points, 12 assists and 11 rebounds. On the downside, he made 7-of-19 shots from the field.

"Well, it's still an adjustment period for all of us," James said. "We lost our offensive coordinator (John Kuester) to the Pistons. He's the head coach of the Pistons now."

In Cavs coach Mike Brown's mind, 91 points are more than enough to win games. He's concerned with not only the defense, but the Cavs' effort. Raptors center Andrea Bargnani, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2006 draft, exploited the Cavs for a game-high 28 points. The 7-footer made 2-of-3 from behind the arc.
