Cleveland Cavaliers Getting Inside 2008-11-13

Cleveland Cavaliers Getting Inside 2008-11-13

The Milwaukee Bucks signed Mo Williams to a six-year, $52 million contract on July 24, 2007. A little more than a year later, they couldn't wait to ship him out of town.

The Cavaliers more than obliged and consummated the three-team deal last Aug. 13.

Williams, 25, faced the Bucks for the first time since the trade in the Cavs' 99-93 win on Tuesday. He had 16 points, five assists and one steal.

He knows why the Bucks opened up the bank vault to sign him and why he was dispatched to Cleveland.

"I think I'm good," he said. "For business reasons, they traded me. I don't think my game is diminishing.

"They gave me my contract. Never bite the hand that feeds you."

Williams said he had no bitter feelings facing his old team. He said the Bucks treated him well when he was there. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder is averaging 14.2 points, 4.9 assists and 2.6 rebounds on the season.

CAVS 99, BUCKS 93: Cavaliers forward LeBron James played all but about five minutes of Tuesday's hard-fought game. He matched his season high with 41 points and was the catalyst in the win.

In the fourth quarter, James had 12 points, two assists and two steals, as the Bucks never got any closer than four points.

The key to the game was the proficiency with which the Cavs (6-2) took care of the ball. They had one turnover in the second half, and that was intentional.

The Bucks forced 18.4 turnovers a game -- the second-highest figure in the league. The Cavs had just 10 miscues in the game.

"We were exceptional in taking care of the basketball in the second half," Cavs coach Mike Brown said. "The lone turnover we had was when I asked LeBron James to hold the ball and we got a turnover (with 4.7 seconds to play)."

The Cavs extended their winning streak to five games. They've also gotten off to their best start at home since 2005-06. They are 4-0 this season at The Q.

They can thank James, the league's leading scorer, who has 37.5 points in his last four games.

"I've been feeling it," James said. "I've been in a zone. It was one of those nights again that whenever I got the ball, I felt it was going to go in."
