West left the Cavaliers on Oct. 4 and missed three preseason games. The Cavaliers did not disclose the reason for his absence.
West was a restricted free agent who signed a two-year contract with Cleveland last month.
He joined the Cavs in an 11-player trade last February and was one of the team's best players during the postseason, averaging 10.8 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists in 13 games.
The 25-year-old West is expected to back up point guard Mo Williams and could share time with Daniel Gibson at shooting guard.
