No. 1 Cleveland vs. No. 4 Atlanta
By any possible measure, this series is a mismatch. Why the Cavs should win
Since Turkoglu is essentially a wingman with super shooting range, he will pull Davis far away from the rim where Big Baby's superior strength is minimized. Indeed, Turkoglu is the key player for Orlando. The more triples he knocks down, the easier it will be for him to take his dribble into the paint and either score or pile up assists. At some point, Pierce will have to guard Turkoglu.
However, Rashard Lewis is another mobile big who can score from the perimeter. Since Lewis is the Magic's most accomplished one-on-one scorer, Pierce is the only wing defender who can contain him.
And, since there's only one Pierce, this is where Garnett's absence will be felt the most.
Alston's speed will put pressure on Rondo, and Rondo's next act of blatant thuggery will compel the league to severely discipline him. Given Alston's New York mouth, Rondo is sure to be provoked.
Redick will enjoy good looks when quick swing passes catch the Celtics in an overload defensive mode.
Anthony Johnson is tougher than either Marbury or House. And the latter's inferior defense will be routinely attacked.
Pietrus' defense can be variously employed to cool down any of Boston's hot shooters. Plus, Pietrus is still another dangerous long-range bomber.
Marcin Gortat provides something that Boston sorely lacks a hard-working, smart-moving, physical big man off the bench. Orlando's ability to dominate the boards will be absolutely necessary for their survival.
Still, Orlando's hopes to get past Boston will primarily depend on the availability and accuracy of their 3-point shots.
Orlando COULD win in 7.
